FYI -- the Journey board had a unique Super CPU board in the stack. The model is 91475. If I can find this single board I should be home free.

"91475 (Journey)
            * identical to 90010 except:
            * sprite colors 0-63, upper two bits come from video gen
            * sprite colors 48-63 have an extra bit for higher grayscale resolution"

Yeah. I read that too. What's odd is 90010 is MCR ii. Journey is MCR iii

you mentioned you knew some people with MCR board sets. Grab one or ebay it, they seem fairly cheap.

I should have a Tapper PCB soon. I thought I could convert it but I might be wrong. I cant' find any clear documentation on it and no one seems to agree. According to the MCR FAQ Tapper and Journey share the same board stack. HOWEVER, I am hearing that Journey has its own unique Super CPU board. When I get the Tapper I'm gonna try to get it working first then swap ROMs and see what happens. If I can't get the Tapper PCB working I have a back up plan that involves the Tapper PCB. Smiley

Also, for the casette interface amp board...

I have learned of a way to recreate the casette player with an Arduino and an MP3 Shield. I will most likely go this route.

this site has the tape sample http://samples.mameworld.info/ on wav

Interesting thread, shows links to how endless cassettes work, plus a story of one guys own restoration.

http://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=4411.0

Nice to see they are still for sale in various formats depending on the length of time required, example below for a 3 min tape which perfectly matches the sample length.

Hope you go down the tape player route.

Yeah it's something different, but for me I guess I'm trying to persuade you down the tape route - it's a cool original feature of this machine.

I can make the tape for you too !

Believe me, I want the cassette player. But, I think it will be very interesting to find an easy modern replacement that works.

For the super cpu board alone? No.

I already can buy a working PCB for tall money. I need one for a
