John is using the software that came with his programmer
EMP10 version 4.1X
"I am using a NEEDHAM EMP-10 burner in DOS to burn and read my EPROMS."

Alternative software 1
Free MCC iBurner I2C Bus EEPROM Programmer Software (V3.0)
http://www.mcc-us.com/iBurner/v3.0/iBurner3_0.htm

Stephen at http://www.hobbyroms.com is an expert, he may be able to answer questions. John vouches for him in the description.

Here is another video to reference that may help:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-AAXDpW6gI
Again, he is using the software from the manufacturer.

please document your work for us.

This is true. I have the EMP-10 and the DOS based software that came with it. I have the software for download on my site too. In the Nintendo Vs. section.
