Hi everyone,

I'm well on my way to converting a dead Exidy Fire One! cabinet to JAMMA and just got the 19" monitor up and running. It actually looks much better than I feared, but there's a large vertical line on the right side, as well as two lines of vertical dots.

From my research, it sounds like replacing the caps would be a good place to start (monitors are a whole new adventure for me, though, so I'd appreciate any suggestions if I'm way off base). The only problem, though, is that I can't identify my monitor. I've compared it to everything at http://www.therealbobroberts.net/monitor.html and http://www.jomac.net.au/services/monitors/ as well as an exhaustive scan of google images. If anyone recognizes it, I'd be much obliged. Here are some pics:

Thanks for taking a look! I'm not sure where else to go from here.

Oo, I like this game!  Kinda rare too.  What's the story on finding it?  I don't know what the monitor is but i assume you tried adjusting it with the pots on the neckboard already?

Yep, I had no picture initially, but after adjusting the pots I got it to what you see now. The guy I bought the cabinet from received it in a bulk auction purchase. It was dead and had already been partially cannibalized, so it was a good candidate for conversion. Too bad. As you said, they seem to be extremely rare. Really cool cp, with dual periscope handles!

I noticed that the yellow vertical line bends to the right at the top, but the screen image is not distorted at all. It might not be a monitor issue. That might be the actual image that the game is sending to the monitor.

I think your right might be a problem on game board. Unplug the video input to monitor but leave power connected to see if the yellow line stays on the screen.

When I adjust the H pos, the vertical line seems to move somewhat independently. If I shift the image far to the left, the line moves to the right, almost off the screen. If it didn't cut 1/5 of my image off, I'd be happy with THAT as a fix.  ;)

I think I can rule out the game board. I hooked it up to a PC monitor and the picture was perfect. I also hooked the PC up to the arcade monitor and got the same vertical line. The issue must be with the monitor, the wires, or the VGA to RGB/CGA converter (http://retroactivearcade.ca/vga-to-rgb-cga-converter-board-1/).

Also tried unplugging the monitor from everything. No vertical line, but lots of wavy lines.

AHA!

After looking at What's My Monitor for the 500th time, I believe I actually found a match! I'm pretty sure it's a WG K4600.

Yes, the vertical line's still there  Embarrassed but now that I know what monitor I'm dealing with, at least I know which direction to head in.
