Hi, folks!  It looks like I'm going to have to re-install Win 7 Home Premium on my PC because of some massive Adware and Spyware intrusions   Angry.  (My fully up-to-date Norton's says that there's nothing wrong, but what does it know?)   Huh?

My question:  Is there someplace that I can save all of my Internet Bookmarks so I don't lose them when I wipe my Hard Drive?  I only have 1 Hard Drive in this PC.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

try the latest release of adwcleaner first. (freeware)
If this fails removing the crap from your system you can still go aheade and re-install Win 7.
Just copy your "favorites" folder (located in your personal folder) to an USB stick.
Copy it back into your "new" personal folder after re-install.

Cool!  Thanks I dl'ed adwcleaner and ran it.  It cleared some of the crap up, but it looks like a re-install is in my future.  I'll have to go buy a USB stick first, I have a TON of Bookmarks that I don't want to lose.

Chrome saves them in the cloud. Now I got all my links on my phone, tablet and PC. When I login from work I see bookmarks that are NSFW! LoL

You can try a program called malwarebytes to clean it up. It is free and works good. You can get it from www.malwarebytes.org

I don't know. I've been on Nortons for a long time. I haven't had any problems with them yet. However I used to have a netbook with a different anti-virus. Unfortunately I got rid of it and the anti-virus program on it was a piece of shit. That's why the official computer of Grinkfest/ Arcade Outsiders uses Nortons.

Nortons should not be used ever by anyone ever, never by anyone ever.

For free everyone can battle out which is best.. AVG is annoying but does a decent job of AV.

Spend the 20 bucks and get malware bytes plus the scanner.

Or better pay for ESET which I use for all of the corporate clients. It's amazing.

So a backup of your files and bookmarks. Fresh win 7 install and then grab a great AV and malware solution

Regardless whether you reinstall or repair, you can have Firefox export your bookmarks as an HTML file.  Go to the Bookmarks Manager and do an Export under the File menu.  I'd e-mail yourself the file that it produces; most browsers can easily reimport it, and if worse comes to worse you can simply load he created page and click on a link.

I did the Firefox instructions from memory, so look around for things that kinda match the idea.  I hope this helps!
