Author Topic: Total restore of atari centipede  (Read 4021 times)

Had to strip cab of everything including side art..
Lop off 5 1/2" off the bottom of each side and replace the material.
Had to separate and reseat the top of the cab with fresh wood glue.
Had to go nuts with a board sander to get cab straight.. re cut t molding grooves straight.
Reinforce the sides with hardener and sealer.

List of stuff needed to rebuild this machine...

Main harness, control panel harness.
Coindoor and mechs.
P1 and P2 cone buttons.
Set of trackball optics
Bulb and starter.
Main PCB and ARII.
Power transformer.
Leg levelers.
Monitor and chassis.
Cut and fit new back door.

Its ok, me and my friends can see them just fine.
I might stop by one of the pawn shops I do repairs for and pick up a new camera and another tv for my bedroom
before I head out to funspot today.

Gonna Here is a run down of what the materials cost.
Because I did all the labor , I did not include that in estimate.
New dewalt sander and sandpaper = $49
Used but nice skil saw circular $20 3 blades included.
 1 Water damaged , separating and warping cabinet $300 .
2 Cabinet clamps = $8
2 bottles of wood glue = $8
4 bottles of epoxy = $10
1 can of grey primer $3
4 new casters for bottom of cab  FREEBIE
2 new cone buttons for player 1 and 2 FREEBIE donated by friend.
2 quarts of Bondo $22
1 quart Flat White oil based paint $8
1 quart Flat Black oil based paint $8
Power transformer was with cabinet, but had to rebuild it..
Main cabinet wire harness was with cabinet but was for millipede
1 new bulb for marquee $13
1 new starter for marquee light FREEBIE..
Wood/material  to repair bottom of cab... FREEBIE donated from a friend.
Game PCB board = $90
AR II (audio regulator power board) $60
Another harness for control panel $18
Side art set (both sides) $72
1 Owl Eye Atari coin door from 1976  Traded a pac man coindoor for it.
1 Rebuilt monitor 19 " K7000 wells gardner $130
40 Feet of dark green T molding $22
New back door cut to spec... Freebie.. donated by friend.

That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment..

Also just bought new tires for my fisher price classic show car this week..
Everytime I go to buy a camera something else seems to soak the money away.
Sucks when you have to pay for all this shit plus my bills .. by myself .

You shoulda seen the camera I had before, somebody stole it off the front seat of my buick at a car show. I was walking around checking out the other
cars and when I came back it was gone.  bummer
