So I bought a used "old" chip that was re-burnt to be a 6f speed chip for ms pacman off eBay, and when I installed it I didn't get any boot sequence, all I got was what looked like a 1" orange ball with a little blue and yellow on it on the screen. Nothing else. The red reset button on the board was unresponsive as was the test switch. Yes it was in correct and in the correct spot. I contacted the seller, he sent another and I have the same issue with the second chip. I have a factory board not a bootleg so I think I can rule that out as an issue. Any ideas?? He's got good feedback and sells these allot.

the chip is no good.
it works without it , then you plug it in.. and it don't work.
all you can do is contact the seller and ask if that was a known issue with HIS chips.

Yeah he's been really understanding. I'm returning them for a refund. I'm gonna try a Bob Roberts speed up chip. Thanks!

So Ian sent me a new fast chip and I still have the exact same issue. I'm starting to think the chip set on my board is bootleg/messed up. They aren't original chips and they just have a white label on them with hand written numbers on them. Any other thoughts? My board is a genuine midway too.

That is weird. I have some jumpers on the back but they just look like repairs from over the years. I get my free play with attract mode chip tomorrow, I'm curious to see if that works too.

Ok, so thanks to Ian's sharp eye, it turns out I have a Pac man board that has had a hack done to make it Ms Pac man (without the daughterboard). It seems to be one of the common hacks as seen on pinrepair.com. So hopefully there's a hack sped chip option for my situation. Otherwise I'm stuck with normal speed, OR unhack the board, OR pick up a good used "real" Ms. Pac man board and chipset.
