Hey everyone! I finally scored a MS. Pac dedicated Cocktail yesterday. Paid a little more then I probably should have in it's condition, but she'll clean up nice and I've ALWAYS wanted one. So it's relatively issue free, short of some operator wiring hacks that can easily be straightened out. However the monitor has some issues, which I BELIEVE are minor, but I wanted to get some advice....

It has an Electrohome G07-904 19"

Issue 1) The colors aren't very "rich" (I.E. they looks like they have "faded in the sun") I Believe a cap kit will solve this which I'm planning on doing regardless. I haven't messed with any monitor adjustments yet, so if that will help too please let me know where to start. It's worth noting the monitor is still sufficiently bright though, so that's good.

Issue 2) The RGB doesn't line up perfectly. (I.E. it looks like a bad screen printing job where the silk screens didn't overlap perfectly). That doesn't bother me TOO bad since it's not awful. But if this is a simple adjustment, I'd like to try to resolve it.

Issue 3) When I turn the game off, the monitor turns off but a 2 inch long "Nike Swoosh" of green blue and a little red is left on the screen and takes about 30 seconds to disappear completely. It's about as wide as a pencil line. Unplugging after turning it off doesn't help.

Issue 4) (this may be more circuit related then monitor) Blinky's eyes are moved up about 3 pixels (ONLY Blinky). Like they have popped out of their eye socket. The rest of his body, and the other ghosts look perfect, it's only his eyes.

Also.....The only Bob Roberts cap kits I see for my monitor includes the fly back. I don't see any that are just the caps, and the transistor. Do I really need the flyback too??

Thanks in advance, and I'm so excited to get her cleaned up!! She's been in a Pizza place up until the moment I bought her, so she's gonna be living on easy street from now on!!

Below is the link from the EBay ad. I know it's not a good one but it gives you an idea. The pic makes it look a little worse then it is in real life...

step one.. order a cap kit from Ian.. for a GO7... cocktail GO7 ..
Your gonna wanna replace the flyback too.. those G07 chassis with pee out the flyback in a heartbeat.

Step two .. drink a beer.

step three...  replace the caps and flyback..

step four. adjust purity rings.

step five...  drink another beer.. pray .. then throw it back in the machine.

also two more things

better order a spare horizontal width coil.. im willing to bet if you just look at yours funny it will crumble apart.
um.... be gentle with the g07 chassis itself, they are fragile too.
always check for cold solder joints.   no joke , something that may LOOK ok may not be ok.
I go over each contact with jewelers goggles,

Will do thanks!! Are the purity rings the parts around the neck of the CRT? I downloaded the tech manual for it and it talked about adjusting those but it seemed pretty complicated. Would you mind giving me crash course version of how to go about adjusting those? And I'm assuming those are what will realign the parts that are looking like the mis-matched "silk screen" print.

O.k. I'm still a beginer at this but I did notice something. Looking at your picture I see the red is shifted from the maze a litte BUT the ghosts, Ms. Pacman, and dots look fine (except for the eyes of the one ghost) Ms. Pacman always has a little red shift in the maze for the first two boards. Play it through to the next set of boards and you won't see it. It's just how the maze was designed. If you really think that the purity rings should be adjusted then put the game in test mode and use the white cross hatch pattern to do it. I'm betting if you put it in test and look at the white cross hatch pattern that there will be no or almost no color shift.

The eyes on the one ghost is most likely an issue with the PCB.

yes but do the caps and flyback first, it may correct the convergence off the bat
I do notice (ive seen like 9 pac cocktails in the past month)  most of the monitors look faded.
This could be that either the monitor is reeeeally dirty or the tube is getting weak.

Thanks guys! Sorry I'm slow to get back to you. It's defiantly a convergence type thing. Everything has a "smear" of red coming out of the lower and left side. Even when the screen flips to the other side for player two the red smear is still shifted towards player one so I think I can rule out anything program related. Upon further inspection that's why blinky's eyes look pooped out of the socket, since he's red his body is shifted down  and to the left like everything else but his eyes stay up where they should be.

Once the cap and fly back kit get here I'll try to get it installed next weekend and report back, then we'll go from there. Until then I'm gonna just work on cleaning this poor game up.

Thanks again!!

Ok good news!! I watched John's video on the go7 which gave me the confidence to try messing with the convergence rings. Well ten minutes later and she looks perfect! I got lucky and found the red/blue ring right away. I'm amazed how much better all the colors are with the red where it should be. And white is white now not blueish white!!
