I've been watching this to pick up gameplay tips.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqHiHZ8YQd4

The sequence of levels is different to the gameplay on my machine.

I get this on my machine:-

Level 1

Level 2

Level 3

However on the youtube video, the guy gets this as his level 3

I've tried to find information on why this could be the case, and I'm amazed I'm coming up with nothing.

Do you guys know why this guy is playing a different sequence to me?  Is it a dipswitch setting?

Thanks

It's probably a dip switch setting. Or maybe a bootleg or hacked board? My DK jr never did that so I'm not quite sure. You can probably look up pics of the switch settings

Is it possible you have a Japanese board set?  Does the title screen say " Junior" or does it say " Jr.?"  The former is the U.S. version.  The latter is the Japanese ROM set.

I don't know offhand the order of the screens on the Japanese version of Junior, but I do know that the screen order of the Japanese versions are different on both and Mario Bros., so it stands to reason Junior would be different as well.

That's interesting, Japanese board in a German cabinet, imported to the UK.

but I'll keep it this way for now, thanks for clearing this up for me..

Just like on , "1982 Nintendo" is the giveaway that it is not the U.S. board set, otherwise it would say, "1982 Nintendo of America."

Out of curiosity regarding the title I checked the latest version of MAME, which says there was a Japanese set called " Jr.," but there is also a " Junior" set labeled "Japan?," so it's possible Nintendo used both titles there.

Just a note. I just finish a dkj restore and had picked up a pcb a few years ago and had only tested it to see if it worked and it did. Started playing through and it has the Japanese progression but the pcb is stamped Nintendo or America and has the Nintendo of America on the title screen. I found a tag that had been tied to it and it said the pcb was purchased in the Netherlands.
