Laser Disc Memories

I remember going into a mall as a kid and seeing a laserdisc player that sat vertical instead of horizontal, with a glass front which exposed the entire disc as it spun.
I thought it was the coolest thing, but I can't find any mention of it on the internet.  Anybody know what I am talking about?
