Our tubes may not be dead yet!

Since I'm worried that my tube may still be bad after rebuilding my monitor (haven't tried it yet) a friend of mine at work told me about a place called Hawkeye Picture Tube that rebuilds picture tubes. I started to look into them only to find that they closed a few years ago and there is no place left that does this sort of work..... HOWEVER! I also found that a museum is building a room for and has the funds to buy all the equiptment from Hawkeye and it sounds like they may start rebuilding picture tubes for the public. yeah but they are really interested in vintage TVs.  I wonder what would happen if we asked them about arcade monitors?

From what I heard, they are charging crazy outlandishly high prices. Like in the thousands per unit...

Well let's hope that's not the case. These old picture tubes won't last forever and the LCD's suck.

I don't think there is a single display technology that will be able to mimic how a CRT works and that is a real shame.

It also sucks there will never be enough of a demand to have a glass company do a run of new tubes.
