Long time lurker, first time poster...

What would you all consider to be a fair price for a working DK JR cabinet?

I understand the entire "what the market will bear" concept, but people seem to think eBay pricing is fine... while those eBay auctions get relisted month after month. :\

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Not really , ebay pricing usually consist of picking the machine up local or tacking on a few hundred to ship.
plus you don't see the machine before you buy it.
It also depends on the condition .
mint restored, restore project, altered, and better yet all original or all original mint.

I'm with you...  I completely understand... lots of factors to consider.

So let me create a hypothetical machine to maybe help zero things in:

Local pickup, working, mostly original, in "good" cosmetic condition.

You go there, you look at it and think "I'd like to own this."  What would you think a completely hypothetical price range would be?  $30,000 or $3?  I'm sure a price is somewhere in the middle.

$350-500 would be a fair price. Absolute maximum on that would be $650. Dead games should be around $150-250. I've bought two dkjr's this year, one in great shape but dead for $50 and $300 for a partially working in good shape.

450 to 600 in my area of Connecticut.
It also matters on the person selling it.  You never know what they are gonna come out with.

Finally got to go see it in person this evening.

Particleboard, smells of urine, no art on the sides of the cabinet. sound doesn't work, control panel is discolored and buttons aren't original, no keys to look inside (and I don't own a Nintendo key), T-molding is broken and missing in areas, and the marquee light fixture has been replaced with two appliance bulbs...

Seller claimed it was "all original"

$450.

Heh.
