So after watching the epic Journey restore, you'd think I'd know this...I have pent the last two weeks bondo-Ing, priming, and sanding a dynamo cut corners cab .I plan to make it a custom Denver Broncos themed Blitz cabinet (Broncos won b2b Super Bowls when the game was released).

Now that I'm painting (and sanding, and painting) how do I put my last coat of paint on while being vigilant against the orange peel texture? Do I just lightly hand sand the last coat of paint? Wet sand it? What's the. consensus best method?

Paint sand repeat! do this 2 or 3 times. the best results come from spraying but if you don't have the tools then a roller with a short nap will do.

I wet sanded my last coat. It sucked big time but I got super smooth results. Doesn't even seem like paint.

That sounds good...restoring a Gottlieb cabinet myself...so always good to see some pointers.

Also, I haven't used it, but can Floetrol(sp?) be used with oil paints or is it just for latex.  It's added to paint for a smooth finish I think.  Never used it personally.

Nevermind...just looked it up...Latex paints only.

or don't spray.. it will save the hassles with overspray and dry spots unless you are gonna color sand and clear coat it.

I restored a dynamo cab already .
Think it was the one I painted purple. sold the cab for $500 .. just the cab with a monitor and control panel.

the centipede I am painting (in the process of)  will get a few coats then im gonna flatten it out.
so the side art goes on smooth.
I don't wanna do anymore cab repair .. I think it sucks but if its all you can get then you will go that extra mile.
Think I have a thread here about me doing an extreme pac man restore and paint.
I had to use an airboard for that cab.  Airboards do not take no for an answere. they will sand the fuck out of a cab and make it flat.
