I loved the discussion about the early 80's handhelds.  my dad worked at JC Penney and he would buy my sister and I a game or two for Xmas.  We ended up with about 5 each.  My favorite was the Space Invader pictured below.  Also, this online museum seems to have everything. http://www.handheldmuseum.com/index.html

Cool - Can't wait now to catch up with the podcast.

This was my personal fave as a kid, and even though my original one was given away to charity (why did I do that?)  I bought one again years later and still have it.

as a kid I remember getting an Astro Wars, which was cool. It had a VFD so the graphics were 'fixed', but bright and colourful. thing was awesome. wikipedia says 1981 which would be right in my memory.

I have the same game, but with "ASTRO WARS" written in red letters.
Bought it 2 years ago on Ebay. Only bad thing is it has no volume knob and the sound can be annoying at it´s default volume.

Enjoyed ep 57, must admit I've missed a few of late - now I need to backtrack - especially to hear this famous rant.

This was my favorite of all the battery operated handhelds I owned. It was magical. I would play it for hours.
