That´s "Gallag" (Galaga bootleg) pcb. These had a different pinout than the original. This explais this wiring mess at the edge connector. I would try finding an original PCB and desolder the mess. The Galaga bootleg boards are not bad though. The Galaga "enhancement pack" works on these, too.

I wonder if the monitor issue is because of the game board.
An original game board would be best, no?

This is right. The 5-pin video connector is on the lower board.  I don´t know if the wiring can brought back to it´s original condition. This looks really bad.  Maybe you will end up converting it to JAMMA and run the PCB with an adapter from arcadashop.com. They have JAMMA adapters for both, Galaga bootleg and original Galaga. |

Or
I could desolder the mess, clip wires and resolder? This way you would have a clean connection to the pcb and start from there (in case the no-video issue is still present after this). If you are going the JAMMA route, don´t buy the Jamma harness in your picture. I had that one and it´s crap. Arcadeshop or Mike´s Arcade have the good quality harness. Another option is finding the original Galaga pcb and rewire your cabinet with Arcadeshop´s Galaga Wiring Harness. |

UPDATE Ok so apparently I found out (and correct me if I'm wrong) the startup screen for Galaga is "1's and 0's" that come on the screen...no? Thats what my screen is stuck on. The question for the forum is "what do I do next?" Do the chips need to be cleaned? What is preventing the board from the proper boot sequence? I will be researching this and hopefully someone out there has an answer. Thanks.... p.s. see picture below  |

So how did you get the video problem solved?
Replacing the fuses apparently did it. The wiring is still pretty much a mess. My friend went through all the wires and tried the bootleg galaga pinout and the screen went blank again. He switched it back to the way the last guy had it and the 1's and 0's popped back on the screen. So maybe he has some hacked up version of a jamma wiring thing going on...I don't know. But apparently we just needed some new fuses. My suspicion is something still isn't right. If it pops the fuses again then we will definitely know. For now, I guess we will try to "carefully" pop out and clean all the chips with a dremmel and see what happens. |

not sure either. I have checked some youtube videos and the videos show this screen animated but my screen is just frozen on this and nothing is moving. Time to break out the dremmel and clean some chips (carefully)
