Hi Guys,
I just bought a striker mini bowling alley from a hockey rink that was liquidating their games. I couldn't pass it up even though it has a few things against it: it's heavy, it's a bad game, and it's driven by pneumatic cylinders. I set the game to attract mode via the dip switch settings but I can't coin it up or put it in test. I think the main reason why is that there is no dip switch setting for free play, and the previous mech is one of those digital card readers. Does anyone know how I can switch out that for a traditional coin mech, or just a free play button? I can provide pics as needed. Again any help is appreciated as I am new to the hobby. Thanks.

on the digital card reader should be the original coinup wires. for now you can just wire a push button into that until you figure out how to mount normal mechs or something else. If you can take pictures of the back of the card reader i can probably figure out which is which. I am surprised they let you take the digital reader with you since those things cost $150+ new.

I can't quite tell from the photos, if you follow red/black/white wire back up to harness i think the white wire is the coin switch wire.

Ian,
Thanks. another rookie question. Now, let's assume the white wire is the coin switch. What Kind of button do I hook up, and what do I do with the black and red wires? Thanks.

well assuming the white wire is the coin switch wire then you just need to wire up any kind of momentary switch. like a normal arcade push button, leaf switch or really any other type of non-latching switch you can find. Originally coin mechs use something called a micro-switch so if you can find one off an arcade button or order one online you will be fine.
before hacking away at the wires, see if you can disconnect that white wire some where. if you can find a disconnect, try to also disconnect the black wire and while the game is on short the white wire to the black one fairly quickly, like no more than a second. see if the game coins up.
It might make it a bit easier for me to figure this out if you can tell me the name of the game you bought, maybe we can find a manual.

Hi Ian,
THe name of the game is striker. It's made by a company called design plus. It was not a popular seller, and the company is out of business. I have not had any luck finding a manual or any documentation online. Thanks.
