1  Arcade and Pinball Discussions / General Pinball Discussions / My latest project.....Creature from the Black Lagoon on: May 26, 2014, 05:57:28 pm
I'm still putting the final touches to my Flash Gordon restoration but that hasn't stopped me picking up a new game that needs some work  Smiley Managed to pick up a Creature from the Black Lagoon for a great and the plan is to get it into nice shape without spending a fortune....hopefully! Here's some pics of what I'm starting with.....

Biggest issue that I can spot so far is the flipper wear above the right flipper. I've been given the name of an airbrush artist who's worked on pin playfields before so I think I'll be trying him out with this one.

I like Fish Tales! Worried the center ramp thing is a little repetitive though. Is it?

I don't think so, you can get into a really good rhythm hitting each side back to back. Very satisfying if you can nail all the shots on the fly and then hit the left orbit to the monster fish at full value. That's a good alternative strategy for competition play if your struggling to get locks for multiball.

Current pin lineup:

Some nice Sys11's in your line up. Kickoff looks very similar to Williams Touchdown.

Might be a F-14.. Not sure many say its boring or gets boring fast

I think F-14 is an awesome game. Shallow rules but a rush to play.

Nice, love a bit of Tron and SST is a game I'd like to own one day. Played it at shows and always enjoyed it  Smiley

A Skyrim pin sounds awesome  Grin Are you making a complete custom build or is it a retheme of something?

Thanks dude, WW was my second ever game and it is awesome. I've no longer got it unfortunately as the need to get more pins took over and it was sacrificed for the Dirty Harry (which is also now gone). One of the best System 11 games ever made  Smiley

NBA FASTBREAK! Smiley

That's C list dude  ;)  Grin

I would add Flintstones to this list....great game and can be had for cheap money here in the UK. Also pretty much any System 11 game is all good, some of my favs are:

Whirlwind
Swords of Fury
Rollergames
F14 Tomcat
Pinbot
Earthshaker
Space Station

And of course the king of all Sys11's....Banzai Run!!!! Although I don't think you can get one for under $2K  Smiley

Pinball is one of those things where one mans turd is another mans gem  Smiley Best thing to do is play as many different games from different eras as possible and you'll start to build up a hit list of games that you like.

Thanks John  Smiley

I have been trying to track down a Flash Gordon for a couple of years but all the people I knew had one wouldn't sell Smiley Then out of the blue a mate said he'd sell me his project game for a great price so I'm currently working my way through that. There's a big pin and arcade show in the UK at Easter so the plan is to have it finished to take to that.

Thanks dude  Smiley

Yeah I do all of the work myself. I don't own them all anymore as I generally do them up then trade up to something else. My current line up is Addams Family, Dracula, Spiderman, Fish Tales, Aerobatics and Flash Gordon. The only way I've really been able to get games like Addams Family and Spiderman is by trading up from other other games over a period of time as I don't have the cash to buy these expensive titles straight up.

Really getting into the early 80's Bally games at the moment so as well as Flash Gordon I'd quite like to pick up a Fathom and a Centaur.

No decent pics of Flash Gordon as that's currently being restored. I do have some video's up on my Youtube channel of the Aerobatics restoration as well as the ongoing FG one (apologies John if it's not cool to post links to other Youtube channels):

Honestly, I think the game is a bit lame. But, that's just me.

I'm with you on this, I played a bit on a Wolverine LE when it first cam out and it was ok. I've been told by friends that I should play it again as it's got better as the software has improved. I know someone selling a Magneto LE at the moment but they're after £6000 for it ($10K) which is just too much to spend on a pin for me.
