ousoonerfan2006 that's exactly what I did and you are right the majority of the chips had a lot of black tarnish. It works great now except in freeplay. If I set the dip switch to freeplay it goes through a boot cycle and just keep cycling. Switch it back to coin and it works with no problems. Any ideas on that? Not a huge I don't mind opening up the coin door and adding credits.
I emailed the listing the second hour it was up with no reply and there is no phone number to call. I have not heard back yet. I hope they get back to me. I have been looking for outrun for a while.
Yes I believe the turbo is a conversion from the original outrun. Pretty common. I'm going to go with the original working outrun if I can get this guy to email me back.
I just looked at segaresurrection.com. They sell a kit for $40.00 to replace the needed eproms and security processor to resurrect a suicide board from the battery going bad.
If you don't mind me asking what do you think is wrong with the Outrun Turbo? Like you said I think Outrun is a better game also. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.
I was set on picking up an Outrun Turbo for $100.00 that is non working. The screen is scrambled and does not have any sound. Then locally a Outrun just got listed that I can get for $300.00 that just had a cap kit, fully rebuilt steering assembly with new "A" and "B" gears. What do you guys think? Should I go get the working Outrun with all the good stuff for a couple bucks more or roll the dice with the cheaper turbo. I am leaning towards spending the extra money and getting the working Outrun as I don't $300 is a bad .
Great projects man. I play my DK a lot, and would love to add a Q*bert someday. I hoping to pick up an Outrun turbo this week with a scrambled pic for $100.00. The cab is in great shape. Keep the pics coming.
I just capped my dk as well. I get my caps from partsexpress. The hole cap kit cost me $8.40 and that included shipping. They have a ton of caps in stock. They also have high temp caps for the areas that get a lot of heat. A good soldering iron and desoldering iron makes doing cap kits easy.
Here are some pics. I also have a couple videos on youtube. Here is one showing the semi automatic pin setting. You physically just have to load the tubes. You will see a camera by the ball return that does the automatic scoring just like a bowling alley. Pins, , width of lane are exact half scale and length is 18ft. There are black lights and white lights for glow bowl or regular bowl.
If you could get it for $300.00 that would be a good . It's hard to find working cocktails for $300.00 around me. If it works and is original sounds like a pretty good to me.
