1  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Re: DK Monitor issue on: February 24, 2018, 06:15:05 pm
Hello I was wondering if anyone knows what's wrong with my Sanyo 20ez the blue on jukpman has a problem shown here https://imgur.com/gallery/nqmSj when jumpman is on the other side of the board the blue moves so it goes towards the center.
Please help I don't know how to fix this. The monitor has been capped in the past.
Thank you

That has to be an issue with either the edge connector. Or the rom chips. Something isnt seated all the way in or something needs to be cleaned

5  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Best repair practices on: February 09, 2018, 10:44:46 am
I am hoping to get some insight as to how to go about "bullet proofing" my original ms. pac-man, donkey kong, pac-man machines. It seems once i repair something something else gets broken.

I really want to get them fixed so they need very minimal maintenance.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
- Michael
6  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Re: Street Fighter 2 monitor issues[Solved] on: November 24, 2013, 01:42:55 pm
You seem to now quite a bit about Street Fighter, do you have a favorite character to use?

well my original favorite character from Street Fighter World Warrior, which is what I started on, is Guile. but years later I discovered he is broken and unbalanced, being the undisputed only top tier character.

my new favorite character is Cammy!
i thought Sagat was the only top tier character

well first of all the original sf2 did not have boss characters selectable.

from the original post:
"If some people are clueless as to what Tier's are, although this summary does not do it justice, I will say that Tier's are a ranking of characters advantages and disadvantages, and exploits, etc, etc when having two players of equal skill against one another (Two players of equal skill who know how to play the game).

Street Fighter II World Warriors

Top Tier
Guile

Upper Tier
Dhalsim

Middle Tier
Everyone Else (no particular order)

Low Tier
Ken
Ryu

Guile - He without question is the undisputed Emperor in WW, he dominates so completely and utterly in this game, that it isn't even funny. He dominates everywhere, zoning, spacing, poking, positioning, you name it, he is #1 period, he even has the crazy 5-hit jab dizzy and re-dizzy, and of course, you can't forget the "handcuffs" although those aren't tournament viable but fun to use on newbies, lolz. Dhalsim is a far, far, and away #2.

Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting
Note: Hyper Fighting to this day, is the most balanced Street Fighter game ever made, and arguably the most balanced 2-D fighting game of all time, and in my opinion in the Top 3 most balanced fighting games of all time

Top Tier
Ryu
Guile
Blanka

Upper Tier
Sagat
Ken
Zangief

Middle Tier
Chunli
E. Honda
Dhalsim
Balrog

Low Tier
Vega
M. Bison

Ryu - The best character in Hyper Fighting, the speed boost greatly improved his gameplay, and the nerfing of the Top 3 CE characters, Guile, Bison, and Sagat helped as well, since Ryu was ranked #4 in CE. 11-39 Hadouken speed, making it the fastest Hadouken in SFII incarnation, jab shoryuken beast, 1-frame inv. start up hurricane kick which could pass through attacks or projectiles and knock the opponent to the ground, crazy 2 in 1 aerial hurricane kicks against taller opponents, Ryu is the most complete character in HF.

Blanka - Excellent poking game and damage potential, Vertical Roll is simply too good, on hit, and even on block, because on block, it leads to grab throw madness.

Zangief - Super Fast Lariat with 3xKicks with invincibility, crazy cross ups with the beastly body splash, the monster c.mk on block into SPD. HF. Zangief was a contender without a doubt.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo (This one, the tier spot in which the character is in, and the placements of their names within that tier spot is not in any particular order, considering some people say O. Sagat, is #1, while other's Sim, other's Rog, etc, etc, you get the idea, however they are ranked within where they are respectively placed though)

Elite Tier
Gouki

Top Tier
O. Sagat
Dhalsim
Balrog
Vega (Alot of people consider him Top Now, so I'm throwing him up there)

Upper Tier
Chunli
Ryu
M. Bison

Middle Tier
Dee Jay
Guile
Ken

Low Tier
E. Honda
Fei-Long
Zangief

Bottom Tier
Hawk
Blanka
Cammy

O. Sagat - Sickening Tiger Shot speed of 11-37, making these Tiger Shots as deadly as his CE counterpart. Plus 2 in 1's with his lk, sickening damage, and super dominant zoning game made O. Sagat one of the most powerful and feared characters in ST.

Balrog - Best Rushdown Game in ST period. Excellent pokes, mixups, and low sweep dash, throw which leads to stupid guessing game and mixups, the BEST SUPER in the game, and it can even stuff out O. Sagat doing a Low Tiger shot from full screen, which is BS imo.

Street Fighter III 3rd Strike

Top Tier
Chunli
Yun

Upper Tier
Ken
Makoto
Dudley
Yang

Middle Tier
Gouki
Urien
Ryu
Oro
Ibuki
Elena

Low Tier
Necro
Alex
Remy
Q
Hugo
Twelve

Bottom Tier
Sean

I read at srk.com a few months ago, that Chunli had now taken the #1 spot in the 3S Tier Listing, and this was coming from Japan, and since Japan is overall better then any other country in 3S, most would likely agree that they know what they are talking about."

this is pretty accurate. Sagat was notorious for dominating Street Fighter IV in online matches

i don't suppose you know a strategy for beating Ryu with Ryu?

I checked with the pros on KLOV They explained I ruled out 90% of what it could be and what I have is a B+ voltage issue.

They advised I need to check the B+ area on the chassis which includes transistors, resistors, capacitors etc. Problem is I just need to know how I'm going to do that

Quick updates

My automata is coming along nicely, A few bench tests away from developing my first 555 timer circuit to make it coin operated.

{full disclaimer this video is monitized just a heads up so your aware ahead of time}

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfixDqLIL6k

^ ive made a nicer top for it out of cloth but i plan on monetizing this and making it coin operated.

I've picked up a breadboard, components, and a brand new blue suzo-happ coin reject button. So I'm getting there the going is just a little slow right now.

The gun game is still at a stand still until I can round the money and tools around.
good job we are all starting to see your idea come to fruition. I have a bad habit of taking on too many projects at once. Stay on track!! pretty cool idea, keep it going~!

oh man this is awesome! must have more info and pics!

what she said, I like to see restoration before and after photos. Or video, video is good too. : )

hey i'm a guy  Angry

Typo and fixed sorry
Fellas it wasn't like i knew i was going to get it going. I have advanced knowledge of how electronics work and i have the technical skills to replace them but as far as fixing them goes. I have to use my resources and get ideas from the pros on what next steps to take.

After every one of these i fix i learn something knew. Like for 1 on ms.pac if the switch at the top doesn't work/or isn't on. i won't get any of the voltage readings behind the transformer. Tongue found that out the hard way.

John can typically come in an go "oh hey this is how we are going to fix this machine i just bought it " and he just wings it .

For ms. pacman i bought a power supply plugged it in, replaced the top switch then it worked. After troubleshooting with a multimeter finding out it was the power supply.

I wish i did record it, but this was my very first "dead on arrival" machine i have revitalized. The owner gave up on it and out of a labor of love through the help of forums and friends i was able to fix it back to health. I am proud of the fact i was able to do it. I have SO much to learn before i start whipping out a camera and showing the "progress" of my projects. Because i never have any clue on how it will turn out!! hah but thanks all i love this game!!!!

Thanks! I love it. Believe it or not it actually came with an additional both sets of buttons as replacements.

so what's the plan with your monitor and further?
I need to order a flyback and cap kit that's priority get it working.

cool
got any pics of yours?

alright since you asked i took pics today. i added a 4th button, this control panel only had 3 and a lot of neo geo games use 4. i printed a bunch of art of my favorite games and put them on my cabinet i dunno it makes me happy reminiscing.

you converted it to a neo geo!!? don't get me wrong i love Neo Geo but how are you supposed to get your SFII on? Also what programs do you use to record videos then do voice overs and edit?
15  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Space Invaders Deluxe on: November 17, 2013, 08:58:02 pm
I am having troubles with my space invaders deluxe.

it was playable before, although there was wave it would move side to side on the screen now when i turn it on; it does this.
Any ideas? i can hear it playing in the background the game is playing when i shoot and i can hear the invaders move as well.

I have done a cap kit there is no change.

I checked the B+ voltage on the potentiometer on the chassis which is Wells Gardner 19v1001.

The reading i got was 32.4VDC that was the most i could get out of it. The reading i NEED is 74VDC. not sure where to go from here, because it's clear that pot is not getting enough voltage.
