I agree Ian.  He is going to sit on this for a while BUT he has already lowered the price to $450.   $500 for both his Scramble and Pleades.

I have a question along the lines of transportation of arcade games.

I read above the post about a full size van being able to transport a game or two.  But what other vehicles are you using to transport video games.  For instance John uses a Ford Explorer, but what year model.

Anyone use a Chevy Astro Van?  Some of these 10-15 year old vehicles can be bought for cheap.  I have a pick up, and that is good for nice weather, but an enclosed vehicle would be nice to have as well.  Plus I kinda need a junker to have as a back-up for my truck.

Thanks for any help.

it is an original game.  with the Stern stencil on the sides, it is painted on(it looks spray painted to tell the truth) i think it looks good as it, rustic and original and that is the way i would leave it.

the monitor has a teeny bit of burn in mainly from the high scores screen....  but nothing too bad

sadly there are L-brackets used to hold the back panel of the game on and also to hold the control panel on. the brackets for the back panel actually wrap around the top onto the side panels.   not that hard a fix, but it would be screw holes to patch.   the CPO is badly worn but i am sure there are others out there for sale.

the marque looks to be in good condition, and the bezel also looks good enough to pass muster for now.  they could be replaced, but are very passable.

the cabinet looks to be original.  the bottoms of the side panels are "frayed" and would need some attention.

the coin door has no keys(not a big ) but to "coin-up" they drilled a small hole in the door and put in a small push button to add credits...  i would like an original un-molested coin door myself.

the game played fine, but i think the guy is asking too much.  he wants $600 for it.  the ad is on craigslist.   he is selling a Pleades for $400 that is in similar condition, but i dont like that game myself.

i walked away from it for now.  i may let him sit on it for a while and if it is still available later make him a lower offer.

Hello all!

I am looking at a Scramble game that is for sale in my area.  but the only thing wrong with it is that when you fire the "laser"...  the "bullets" appear above your spaceship.  about an inch and a half above it.  does anyone know what might be wrong or if this is an easy fix?  bad PCB? bad ROMS?

I would kinda like to get the game, the cabinet is in ok shape, but i think it would make for a nice project for my first game.  There are some smaller things wrong with it, but i am confident that i can fix them.

Thanks for any and all help!

Hello to everyone!  I am new to this hobby.  If there is anyone from the Houston Area that wants to say hello - I have a question or two.

Like most here I spent my spare change on video games at the arcade, and the front of WalMart.

I grew up in a small town in Arkansas and we had a small game room(arcade) with a couple pool tables.  We also had a couple of game in the entrance to Walmart.  LOL  The games we had were pretty mainstream, we had to travel to Memphis to a large arcade to see a bigger assortment.  But Memphis did seem to have a lot to choose from.  If you are from the mid-south think very EARLY Mall of Memphis era.

Since I am new to this I may not be able to answer too many questions yet, but hope to be more helpful as my knowledge grows.
