1  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Re: DK PCB MYSTERY on: August 28, 2013, 06:23:04 pm
Virtvic,

Thanks for the help....I did some research after you answered my question and verified what I have.  I must admit the Jap. version is good for my ego (a bit easier) and I like the fact that I can enter my entire name in to the high score table.  I wonder if the high score save kit would work???

2  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / DK PCB MYSTERY on: August 20, 2013, 01:36:37 pm
Hello All,

I just picked up another DK cab and am a bit confused with the PCB.  It plays fine but the second screen (after the barrel screen) is the Pie factory and not the rivet stage Shocked.  The PCB is the two board set-up and has all the nintendo markings like it should.  Do I have some type of bootleg or hack?  Really confused on this one as I cannot find any mention of this phenomenon on KLOV or the internet.  Any help with this mystery would be greatly appreciated.

John,

I know your SW has an Amplifone as well.  I have read alot about how to "Bulletproof" Amplifone deflection and HV boards.  Just curious what you did, if anything, to your Amplifone boards?  Do you think a cap kit and new HV transformer is good enough or should extra precautions be taken in your opinion?

4  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Star Wars Amplifone issue on: February 01, 2013, 05:46:17 pm
I just did a cap kit and replaced the HV flyback with a new one from Arcade Cup.  On power up I am blowing the F3 & F4 fuses on my deflection board.  Any thoughts as to where I should begin?  Is it possible a bad power supply is causing this issue?

The game played blind when I bought it so I don't think there is an issue with the boards.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a myth or does it really exist?

John,

Thanks for the tip.  Knock wood the screen looks mint and I haven't had any problems since adjusting the H-Hold.  My only problem now is breaking the 60K barrier Grin

Mr. Hiru,

Thanks for the response.  I adjusted the H-Hold and that seems to have fixed the problem.  I read on Klov that the H-hold can be a bit touchy on Sanyo EZ's.

My DKJR starts right up and looks great.  It plays just as it should but after a bit of time the screen scrambles.  If I shut it off and restart it the screen is fine.  It doesn't do it every time I fire it up but enough to be annoying.  Any ideas?

Thanks John...I was thinking the same thing but wanted to check with you guys first.
12  Tech and Marketplace / I need help with my game! - Technical Discussion / Nintendo Coin Door Finish? on: July 21, 2011, 03:46:33 pm
Hey guys,

I have my Nintendo coin door stripped, sanded, and primed.  The question I have is what type of finish should I give it?  The coin door had been repainted very poorly with a roller so I wasn't sure if there was texture there originally or not.  Were Ninty coin doors smooth from the factory or did they have some texture?

Hello Everyone,

My name is Greg and I live in Las Vegas.  It is my great pleasure to be admitted into this forum.  John's page inspired me to take my love of Nintendo to the next level.  This past fathers day I decided to treat myself to a cabinet that someone had converted to DKJR.  Long story short I purchased the machine off of CL for $50 and have set forth on its restoration.  John's website was the catalyst and I cannot thank him enough for all of his efforts.
