So foolishly I thought after my cabinet was complete all the parts would just snap together easy peasy.. Well now I have a completed cab, and I pile of parts... And I don't know where to begin... Don't yell at me guys but I just ordered a bunch of stuff online hoping it would all make sense.. I'll post pics of what I got

Cabinet in the perfect spot

Front

Assortment of parts

Power supply

500n1 game elf

Speakers

Jamma cables

Control panel

That's what I got, I have so many questions
-is this all I need
-how do I attach the power supply to the wall?
-do I really need to go buy a voltage meter ?
-am I going to die?

Any advice would help haha I have no idea where to start
Thanks guys

Day 3 progress on my batman beyond can guys

Finished filling all the screw holes and drew and cut the arcade stick / speaker box / bezel/ and marquee plate out of 1/8 inch aluminum and sanded the finish. Now next weekend I'll paint all the aluminum gloss black and finish building the monitors little nest area
(The batman symbol in the arcade stick will be lit by red LEDs, and for anyone who cares the two speaker grates are actually the symbol of "shriek" batmans villain who uses sound as a weapon)

And this will be the marquee

Also I'll cut two pieces of plexi, one to cover the arcade stick and another to cover the bezel and monitor.
Let me know what you think guys Cheesy

Here is day twos progress Cheesy
Made the arcade stick template

I have the ability to make the arcade stick top out of anything really, I was thinking about plain wood but what if I did aluminum, cut out some text or designs into it (like "player 1" or a bat-symbol) then threw leds behind it and covered the whole thing with plexi? Does anyone have any experience and can tell me why I should or shouldn't do this thing?

Haha yeah just having fun with the man cave episode of arcade outsiders, I was literally laughing so hard while listening to that episode It was a danger for me to be on the road. I've always hated that term man-cave. My wife refers to my room as my "batcave" which I accept (being a batman fan) but when I get my game down there it will be known as my batcade Cheesy

Is there already a thread like this on johns arcade forum? Or does everyone just post pics of their man-cave on KLOV?
I just thought it would be sweet if everyone posted pics of their arcade rooms / man-caves or wherever they collect their games.
It would stir up some inspiration i think for all of our man-caves
I would post my man-cave but as of right now i have 0 games (my first cab should be done in a couple weeks)

Can any of you guys put your man-caves up against johns man-cave?

Lets see those pics chief

13  Arcade and Pinball Discussions / Beginner's Help Corner / Can I paint a custom marquee? on: September 17, 2014, 05:59:40 pm
Hey fellas,
I'm in the process of building my first cabinet and I'm wondering about painting my marquee. I am picking between two designs and both are easily stenciled. And my original plan was to cut two peices of plexiglass, stencil the design and spray paint one of them the colors I want, then sandwich the paint with another piece and that's it until my friend brought up a good question... If I do that will any light get through the paint?

What's the best idea guys, I would really like to do this myself rather than go through a marquee printer. Is there special paint?

Thanks any ideas would help

Hey arcade guys,
This is Drew from Minneapolis MN
I'm a DC comics super-fan and collector and recently got into the arcade hobby. Love listening to the Arcade Outsiders Podcast already caught up from episode 27-45 in only 2 weeks :|

Working on my first cabinet now for my basement, building a 500 in 1 jamma and this is where its at so far (Built it small so it would fit through my doorway) it will be themed after "Batman Beyond" because most of my basement is... I know... this is a classic arcade forum and podcast but I was a 90's kid and before i get into classic restored dedicated cabs I WANT TO PLAY SOME GAMES! So thats why i chose the 500 in 1.

But... cabinet #2 will hopefully be a dedicated taito superman cabinet if i can find one / restore one (Named my son after superman so its only obvious) Besides that's a beautiful cabinet.

Anyway, i figured i would join the forum the arcade community seems great and im excited to be a part of it.

Images below are my cabinet and an example of the theme im going with (Luckily i run a CnC cutting machine at work so it was rather easy to get to this point)
