1  Tech and Marketplace / For Sale / Wanted / FS:Red Tent on: March 15, 2019, 12:23:11 am
Hello,

I have a red tent that I would like to clear out.  It hasn't seen much action in the past three years, but there's where it's at:

BAD SIDE:
RBI Baseball
- Need a cap kit, but was otherwise working

GOOD SIDE:
Super Mario Bros
- In good running condition

I don't have keys to the coin box.  Located in Chicago.

Let me know if you are interested!
2  Tech and Marketplace / For Sale / Wanted / Sega CD 1: Trade or sell on: December 13, 2015, 11:53:29 pm
Looking for anyone with a working Sega CD1 unit.  I'd be interested in trading (I have several rare games for NES/SNES/Genesis and some spare consoles) or buying.  PM me if interested

Strangely enough, it is working again.  I tried it several times over a span of a few days, and nothing.  Then I tried it again last week, and it suddenly works again.  Played it a few time with no problems.  I assume this means that something is dying, but I guess I'll cross the bridge when I come to it.

Did you try restart, same thing?
Can be one of the caps gone dry!
Start with voltage check, then take a look over the board to see if you can see anything odd, know that vs board has allots of caps, depending on plonk sound it might differ!

Have you been moving the cab, or done something else that might losing some of the connectors, or harmed the main board?

I tried restarting it four times, same thing happened each time.  The cab and the main board have been sitting still for several months.  The cab hasn't moved in two years and the board was only moved once, which was several months ago when I took it out to swap the other side from Castlevania to SMB...but I played it several times since then and both sides worked fine.

Thanks for the info...if a voltage check is showing no voltage in some parts of the board, is it just a matter of changing a cap?

That's cool...I might want to take a dive on it just so I could get the legendary 4 player Tennis going!

Fired up my vs dualsystem for the first time in about a month yesterday.  One side is playing fine, the other side (RBI Baseball) makes the "PLONK" noise that it makes on startup, but no further sound is heard.  As for the screen, no display is visible, but some globs of green and blue are visible on part of the screen.  It almost looks like I'm looking into space or something on that order.  Any ideas what the issue might be?
7  Tech and Marketplace / For Sale / Wanted / Re: Trade Castlevania Vs board for SMB/Goonies/Tennis on: July 28, 2015, 01:27:43 am
PM sent.

Tony hooked it up.  This guy is a resource for Nintendo VS for sure.  Had a lot of interesting info as well.  I now have RBI and SMB hooked up, which is probably how I'll keep it.  Thanks again!

I have a red tent RBI Baseball/Castlevania.  I would like to swap the Castlevania board for one of the above mentioned boards.  The game works, and the sound effects work, but I can't get any music to play.  I'm guessing that's not related to the board itself and probably some kind of wiring/dip switch issue, but I wanted to be forthright.  I'm located in Chicago.

Any takers, let me know, please!

Hola walter,

English version: I can't help with knowledge, but I will translate to Spanish if he needs it.

Welcome to the forum. The dual system is an awesome cab for sure, quite a beast.
I probably have a few spare SMB in a box, maybe we can work something out.

that would be cool.

Thanks for the info.  I have home improvement projects to work on at the moment so this isn't a pressing issue, but I'll be sure to consult this info when the time comes.

I've heard online that I stand an excellent chance of killing myself if I try a cap kit, but then elsewhere people make them sound like they are easy as can be.  How hard are they to do, really?  I'm not an electrician or anything, but I have successfully installed my own light fixtures in my condo, so there's that.

We didn't get our first computer until 1993, which was an Apple IIC without a modem, so I never really used a BBS.  However, a few years later (circa 1996, once AOL let you actually connect to the World Wide Web), I stumbled upon this log of the last login to some BBS based on the TV show Moonlighting from the 1980s.  I remember reading it several times, and it seemed pretty cool and foreign to me.
