Title: monitor / screen growing problem
Post by: pimppride on April 01, 2014, 02:21:05 pm
recently I noticed after a while of playing TRON, the screen starts to grow or enlarge ( with a wave or bend to it in the right side ) like if the horizontal and vertical control was readjusted during play... I assume its a heat or voltage issue ???

where should I start ? thanks

Anthony

Check your B+ voltage.

Post a photo of the chassis.

I don't know what monitor that is from the pic, guessing maybe a K4900?? It may not have a B+ adjustment. I know on the GO7 a wave is caused by bad connections at either the fuse block and or the edge connectors or grounds. Since yours does it after a certain amount of time I would agree that something may be starting to fail. When was the last time it had a cap kit? Maybe your monitor headers etc need to be reflowed.

look on the chassis or the back of the neck board.  sometimes is it there.  your pics didnt show any of that info.  with the chassis  you would be able to search for the right schematic to find out the test point for the b+ and for the correct cap kit if needed.

That looks like a 4900 to me.

Here's how to check the B+

yea, for photos its a little awkward angle, the chassis or framework of the monitor has a metal triangle section in front of everything, I am going to try to get into it later this week and get some better photos and look for markings...

I found a few of johns arcade & others you tube videos on monitors over the weekend which cleared up allot of info for me, will see what the investigation finds...

here are some better photos, please correct me if I am wrong, I'm going to order a cap kit this week...
