Title: donkey kong parts price question
Post by: computerfixerguy on March 10, 2014, 04:27:11 pm
Hi guys,

I found someone offering a repaired donkey kong motherboard for $125

Also he is selling a repaired working donkey kong monitor for $125

Good deal?

I would like a donkey kong game someday and wouldn't mind assembling from parts myself if it would be cheaper in the long run.

Those are totally acceptable prices. Obviously the lower the better but that's not robbery.

Is the DK PCB working? Right?

Yeah, $250 for a working monitor and (repaired) pcb. That's it though, nothing else.

I figured that might be a good route. Get those two parts then bide my time looking for any trashed or otherwise broken nintendo cab then convert/restore it back to donkey kong. Repro and NOS parts are common as rainwater for donkey kongs, right?

The two main factors I'm trying to satisfy here is enjoying restoring and being a cheapskate. I have no interest in paying 1000-2000 for a pristine DK cabinet.

That's a good route. $250 for a working 20EZ and working DK PCB is totally within reason. I'd wanna be at $200. But $250 is ok.

I agree with John on this one. DK boards often sell up to 250 by themselves to desperate people.

I woulda and I aint playin either. I would love a like new all original machine like DK for 1000.
I already have one and id would take another mint one for 1000.

Look at the MKII for example.   I paid about 100 for an mk2 board.  200 for the cab and monitor (have to recap it ) side art is 150 (have to put it on).  t molding 30...
new jamma harness 40 (super jamma) a marquee for 45... CP art and overlay 50 . oh and 75 bux to have it brought upstairs lol.

After that what I have is pretty much 75% prestine.  yeah id rather pay a grand and just plug it in lol.

Well I'm going to go for it. The seller replied and said I could come get the monitor and DK board this weekend. I have a day long road trip this Saturday. Fun stuff, I'll post pictures when/if this pans out.
