Title: Attract mode burn in
Post by: iankellogg on January 10, 2014, 09:51:24 am
So i got a new arcade game and it has some slight burn in from the few years of arcade life. I was noticing when i leave it on the logo never leaves the screen (just like gyruss). Has anyone ever patched a ROM or anything to help with the that issue?

You can't can't get rid of burn-in. The phosphors on the tube are permanently burned-in. You'd have to replace the tube or monitor to fix it.

I know there is no fix for the burn in. I was just wondering if any one has come across a rom patch or something that can limit the amount of burn in caused by the attract mode. Gyruss in particular is really hard on monitors since its attract screen leaves the logo up for like 2 minutes per cycle.

You really don't have to worry about burn-in. These machines were left on 12-24 hours a day, every day. For the short amount of time you will likely leave your games running, burn-in should not be an issue.
