Title: How to best drill a lock? Post by: LockeCole on January 05, 2017, 09:47:31 pm I picked up a handful of cabinets but a couple don't have keys or open doors. I'm looking for suggestions for how to drill a lock. Specifically, what kind of bit and if any drill will do or if something specific is required/recommended. Any tips would be appreciated. :)
Title: Re: How to best drill a lock? Post by: P-feif on January 05, 2017, 10:48:37 pm Any bit that can drill metal is fine. Just drill where you would put the key. If it doesn't open then try a slightly bigger bit. The goal is to drill out the pins in the lock tumbler.
Title: Re: How to best drill a lock? Post by: mrdude on January 05, 2017, 11:41:02 pm Make sure you have decent bits. I've broken tons of cheap-o Harbor Freight bits in coin locks. Start small and work up the size until it's free.
