Title: First Game - Centipede Restore Post by: OrangePeel on August 13, 2016, 04:41:36 pm Hey guys!
Today I picked up a centipede from Ramair1997, who was very generous in giving it to me as a project. Here are some pictures: (http://i.imgur.com/mgaiOhR.png) (http://i.imgur.com/fPh90B8.png) The first Thing i have decided to look at is the control panel. I will need to order some trackball parts to begin with, its pretty much gone. (http://i.imgur.com/Ym4hCp1.png) I want to get the game cleaned up and running first, I am going to worry about cosmetics later. Any tips and help would be greatly appreciated! Then try soaking the bearings in a penetrating oil like PB Blaster or something. Although it would be quicker/easier to buy new rollers and bearings.

Control panel / buttons cleaned up a bit. Simple Green is waaaayyyy better than trying to use Windex. Title: Re: First Game - Centipede Restore Post by: OrangePeel on August 16, 2016, 08:52:15 pm (http://i.imgur.com/QWEOsUN.jpg?1)

Right now, I am in the process of moving, so in order to finish this project, I will need to disassemble the cabinet. This also works out because I need to cut a new side anyway. I've figured up that it is gonna take about $350 in parts to finish, I was debating whether to MAME the cab, but I decided it would be more feasible to just finish the restoration. Parts List: Side Art & CPO ~ $165 Horiz Width Coil & HOT for G07 ~ $16 Power Cord, Bridge Rectifier, Fuse holders ~ $20 Marquee & Upper bracket ~ $50 New PCB ~ $30 Lumber ~ $40 = 321 + S/H In the meantime, any advice on disassembly? Also, what type of lumber should do the job best? Thanks! It may not be the original material but it will survive a little water and your lungs will thank you for not using the MDF/Malamine.

Still has some dark stains, but the dirt and rat stuff are gone pretty much. (http://i.imgur.com/lpwQqhH.jpg) Title: Re: First Game - Centipede Restore Post by: P-feif on April 05, 2017, 10:16:41 pm I'd put a few layers of Killz on that.
Title: Re: First Game - Centipede Restore Post by: MagicMarc-er on April 12, 2017, 07:13:28 am My advice on disassembly would be to not do it (if you're talking about disassembling the cabinet itself). I live and die with wood hardener and Bondo and have yet to find a cabinet that I couldn't repair. From the pics, your cabinet did not look to be in terrible shape.
