Title: switching power supply Post by: randywhatson on January 21, 2016, 08:41:44 pm Question...
Why did the operators use the old power supplies while installing switching power supplies? Like the Galaga machine I'm trying to figure out... The lines run through the old power supply. Why not just completely bypass the old power supply? Title: Re: Post by: darkcat1 on January 24, 2016, 10:53:12 am I believe the "quick fix" might apply here. Alot of operators would do anything to get the machines back up as soon as possible because the longer they were down the less money they made

This is something a collector or pro restorer would do, though, and what you're describing sounds like a quick fix as described above.
