Title: Monitor Issue Post by: pegasus on January 16, 2016, 04:29:56 pm I hope this is the right forum to post.
I'm having an issue with my Nintendo red tent as seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EIlF-rIVq8 The colors seem to be flipped and the picture shifts down. The shifting picture was there previously and I was hoping a shotgun approach would fix this issue. Do I have something hooked up wrong with the colors? I've been playing around with the adjustment pots, but can't get anywhere. I just finished recap'ing the monitor, installing a new HOT and flyback. I went as far as replacing the filter caps too. Any advice? Title: Re: Monitor Issue Post by: lordkahless214 on January 16, 2016, 11:37:17 pm For the wiggling picture you should try reflowing solder on the big white resistors.
I had the shifting issue on my donkey kong until I reflowed. Title: Re: Monitor Issue Post by: pegasus on January 17, 2016, 10:02:31 pm Thanks!
I managed to figure out the inverted colors. I remembered that Nintendo has a switch on the PCB. Flipped it and all was good, but I went to adjust the horizontal and the screen went black. The game is now playing blind, but with horrible sound ??? I'm guessing the next step is to check B+ and go through the test points. No glow in the neck. I checked the fuses and they're good. At a loss now. In frustration, I rebuilt the other monitor (caps, flyback) and it is working well, but I would love to get the blind monitor working now. Any ideas? Try flipping the switch back, and resetting the controls to where they were and see if it comes up.
I wonder if this monitor is fitted with some kind of inverter PCB Title: Re: Monitor Issue Post by: pegasus on January 19, 2016, 11:11:17 pm Switched the switch back and turned the pots back. Nothing. Same issue - playing blind.
Guess it is time to go through the flow charts in the manuals and probe the test ports on the boards.
