Title: Knowing when a game is properly priced
Post by: MechaGregor_ on December 07, 2015, 10:45:19 am
Hey There!

Been looking into buying my first cabinet for a little while now. I have come down to a few games, but I am still trying to figure out when something is a good price or not. Here is a DK cab I was looking at http://norfolk.craigslist.org/vgm/5335589596.html (http://norfolk.craigslist.org/vgm/5335589596.html) is this priced well? Or could I offer $500. Just curious. I was also looking at a centipede earlier this month that was $800 and I was told that was high, and I thought it was as well. Any help would be great. Thanks!

$600 for a DK that is electronically sound and just needs cosmetic probably isn't terrible anymore.  A "good" price is something hard to pin down when the market is in such a fluid state and prices on these popular games are going up yearly if not monthly or weekly.  I'd take it for that if I were in the market for one.

I tend to look at the Exidy price list and adjust according to what shape the game is in, local availability and market demand.    For instance, in some cases, yes you can find it cheaper, but you may have to wait longer (ie. a year or more), or pay more now to get it now.

Also, if you have to redo everything and buy artwork, repaint, etc, that cost needs to be figured in.

Thanks! Was just able to set up a deal for a dedicated pac-man for $425. It has a ms. pac marquee. I'll post pictures below. I asked him to skype it to me since it is a bit of a drive and he told me it is at a friends house. The friend has been holding it for him. I'm just curious how long he's been holding it there and hoping it's been powered up every now and then. I'm waiting on that before I make the drive out. Should I be worried that I can't see it on a skype/facetime?
