Title: Excitebike Color Issue
Post by: randywhatson on September 03, 2015, 08:27:24 am
Hey Guys,

My excitebike has a strange color issue. When I first turn on the game, the colors are way off... everything has a pink hue. Then, about 1-5 minutes after it's on, the pink hue goes away. BUT, the colors are still off... especially on tracks 1 and 3. The background color is strange... and I can't read the turbo meter because it kind of "blends together." On the rest of the tracks, I'm not noticing anything major. It seems to be certian colors. Any feedback on why it's doing this would be sweet. If it is the CPU, PPU or Eproms how do I fix? If it is a problem with the motherboard, I have another one I can swap it to.

Scott

Swap out the gameboard and put another one in. It sounds like your monitor is having some color bleeding. RED is typically the color that shows up bleeding.

I never thought it would be the monitor. The other VS. games I have are castlevania and Top Gun. I haven't noticed any color issues (certainly not the 1-5 minute warm up thing), but I know Exctebike very well from the NES days. Castlevania, I'm not sure how it is supposed to look.

I will try to look into that later.

Thanks Ian.

If it is the monitor, will a Cap Kit fix the issue?

Keep in mind the VS. PCB also has RGB pots.
