Title: Jamma - NO CONTROL!! Post by: Netropolis on July 18, 2015, 12:29:15 pm I have a Dynamo Cabinet - Currently installed is Tetris and a 19 in 1 board - Both work great!
I also have an obscure game called Solar Warrior (Or Xain'd Sleena) - I actually have both versions US and Japan. Anyway Solar/Xain'd when plugged works just fine except - NO buttons, No Joystick. This seems to hamper game play. Here is all I can tell you about the issue.
I would prefer not to have to install a brand new Jamma harness as it seems to work ok! Any idea what this could be? Title: Re: Jamma - NO CONTROL!! Post by: Netropolis on July 19, 2015, 03:59:47 pm I have PARTIALLY solved the riddle that is SOLAR Warrior!
I did a little research and I read this: "...has a standard JAMMA pinout, which is just as well because you would feel very annoyed, potentially homicidal, if you had to build a wiring harness to play such an uninspiring game." HAHA!! HARSH review for one of my all time obscure favourites. After reading "Standard Jamma" I started to wonder if it wouldnt coin up because of the Dip-Switch Settings... Could I have been that dumb? It WAS actually set to Free Play! PHEW. The Coin Mech in this cab though was scavanged for parts long ago and is just the shell. Just to continue trouble shooting... I added a micro-switch to the wires which were zip-tied to the door and she coined right up and plays just fine! This leaves me with the mystery though - Why does it not work in free play?? I will keep at it - I am at least 1/2 way there now! Title: Re: Jamma - NO CONTROL!! Post by: John's Arcade on July 19, 2015, 04:11:53 pm I have PARTIALLY solved the riddle that is SOLAR Warrior! I had to run a jumper on the JAMMA adapter. Title: Re: Jamma - NO CONTROL!! Post by: BigBadBilly on August 24, 2015, 08:19:19 am Sorry if I missed something... but do other games work when using the JAMMA harness? Or have you tried? You may have a loose/bad connection right in the harness itself. So everything else would work except the controls... if the one pin is bad.

You may have a loose/bad connection right in the harness itself. So everything else would work except the controls... if the one pin is bad. Sometimes this doesn't matter. JAMMA is not always JAMMA. My harness was missing a ground wire that prevented Mr. Do from working but every other game worked! |
