Title: monitor bath ?? is this really ok to do ? Post by: cocoflipflop on July 16, 2015, 08:47:05 pm was watching a donkey kong restore video and this guy took cleaner and a hoes to his monitor with a scrub brush. this made me cringe for some reason just wondering if this is normal to do or is a litle extreme and risky? Thoughts?

Post by: knaagi on July 17, 2015, 12:33:57 am I removed a G07 from my Missile Command, put it in our bathtub and showered off the whole unit. You just have to make sure it´s completely dry before putting it back in the cab. I did let it sit outside for a whole day when it was warm outside.

Title: Re: monitor bath ?? is this really ok to do ? Post by: iankellogg on July 17, 2015, 01:46:23 pm Electrolytics aren't usually the problem. its connectors, the width coil and just all the little places water can sit.
Usually i am doing a washing to bring it into the repair bench. So i wash it weeks before i ever get around to working on it. If i am in a big hurry i will throw it into the oven set to 140f for like an hour. Title: Re: monitor bath ?? is this really ok to do ? anyways about washing YOUR monitor.... Ive washed to many monitors and have never had an issue. just like the video you seen spray em down with simple green an then rinse. but make sure to let them Completely dry out before any power get put to them.
