Title: Is this worth the Trip/Money? Post by: Netropolis on June 12, 2015, 10:17:17 am I have located a Scramble Cocktail table for sale.
Everything apparently works - including the coin mechs. Pictures look like it is in decent shape for its age. They are asking $600 - ( I am certain I can talk them down to about $400) the thing is though... it is 5ish hours drive away. We don't have a lot of arcades come available here... Usually just gutted cabinets with a 60-in-1 for $2000 is what pops up for sale. Oh yea and I am a scramble fan... and my wife, although she rolled her eyes - said 'fine'. So - is it worth the drive... and Dough? Title: Re: Is this worth the Trip/Money? Post by: iankellogg on June 15, 2015, 07:13:51 am scramble upright is a $200 game. I can't imagine a cocktail version being worth more than the upright. I don't think scramble in any form is worth $400 let alone $600.

I did opt NOT to buy it - it is STILL up for sale - but I took that $600 and turned it into a pac-man (project cabinet) and a Pin*bot pinball machine! Not too bad if I do say so myself! Title: Re: Is this worth the Trip/Money? Post by: iankellogg on June 24, 2015, 02:28:49 pm Yeah that is a lot better use of $600. Pinbot can be worth a decent amount more than 600 too
Title: Re: Is this worth the Trip/Money? Post by: Netropolis on June 24, 2015, 07:00:10 pm YES! and we are talking $600 Canadian, so that’s like what? $38 US? :)

Post by: thegleek on June 27, 2015, 01:00:45 am YES! and we are talking $600 Canadian, so that’s like what? $38 US? :) That's the most amazing bargain ever!!! $600 CAD = $485 USD... for a PINBOT?!?!?! WOW... I've never seen one in the past 5+ years offered less than $1,000 USD. Title: Re: Is this worth the Trip/Money? Post by: John's Arcade on June 27, 2015, 10:45:18 am Thanks Ian. You did good! I think a Scramble upright is worth more than $200. It's desirable if it's nice. I sold mine for around $350 and it wasn't great. They really don't come up often and a lot of people remember that game. Not sure if the cocktail is worth more or less. Was it a dedicated or conversion? Title: Re: Is this worth the Trip/Money? Post by: Netropolis on June 29, 2015, 01:03:22 am I have NEVER seen the table in this configuration before. Which is why I was so drawn to it - even a google image search I came up empty.
it looked like one of those Jatre Specter (space invader clone) tables - it had the scramble 'card' on top (EACH SIDE) and you sat width wise from each other. the cp was a screen printed metal stick on overlay. it was pretty neat but at the same time pretty underwhelming art wise. I am not crushed though this Pac-man (bally) cab I have, I plan on doing a ground up restore (probably go ArcadeSD with all of Phoenix Arcades' gear to deck out the cabinet) to make it look like a full on Pacman. Installed right now - is none other than John's Favourite Taito - US Classic!! HAHA! I took that as an omen that it has to be restored! And my Pin*Bot! I am so excited about it! it does have some very minor issues, but I have ordered everything I need!! Aside from the couple of minor mechanical issues that are easily fixed, I would rate the pin about an 8 out of 10 for cosmetic condition! Nothing I can't handle to make him back into a 10! So Overall... Scramble be damned! Besides now - MY basement is full - and my wife, who has been so patient and understanding of this hobby... Well, her patience is at an end. I am officially retired - I can only bring in a new machine if one goes... and I love them all. *UNLESS a Bally's World Cup '94 comes available. I am permitted to pull the trigger if that comes along. Title: Re: Is this worth the Trip/Money? Post by: teetdogs on July 07, 2015, 09:11:09 pm I paid 50 bucks for my scramble cocktail... After restore I'm in it maybe 250 or so...

I am able to buy games in "Lots" only.. this week alone i spent over 2 grand. some have already sold,, some i am restoring , some are still avail. I cant even fit some of the shit i bought so i have to wait til i sell some to bring more to my crib. I did get some cocktails.. two ,, well they were all worth it. One is rare, one is really nice and the other one is restored to like new condition.. that one is going bye bye today for cash and an upright cab (revealed later today) Scramble is a cool game. make sure you look around completely before you drop the hammer so you dont miss out on something you might have liked better. Godspeed ...... vertexGuy |
