Title: Looking for a cheapo wood router for making the t-mold slot
Post by: Roidz on May 31, 2015, 01:54:35 am
I'm looking for a way to make the t-mold slot in my old cabinet, there was edgebanding originally.

I don't have a wood router so i'm looking for the cheapest sollution i can find (big chance i never need the router again).

i was wondering of the Ferm BJM1009 would be enough for cutting the t-mold slot in my cabinet. I think it would work for sure if the cabinet had straight edges
but this cabinet haves rounded edges as you can see on the picture here: http://imgur.com/a/ngNui#11 (http://imgur.com/a/ngNui#11).

So my question is: would this Ferm BJM1009 be able to cut the t-molding slot on this cabinet or do i need a different type of router for this ?

I can buy that router for around 55-60 euros here and for a one time tool that price sounds about right to me.

Another alternative is the Powerplus POWX131 : http://www.powerplus.net/6246/13520/milling/powx131-biscuit-joiner-900w.aspx (http://www.powerplus.net/6246/13520/milling/powx131-biscuit-joiner-900w.aspx)

Advice is welcome...

hi,

this is a router for wood connections.
what you need is this type:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-264895-Plunge-Router-1500W/dp/B002QS0J2S

you need also the right insert for the cut.

heres a sample:

PS: sorry if my english isn't right i'm from germany

Thanks !

I'm from Belgium so i'm sure my English isn't better then yours :)

PS: do you have a (web) shop in Germany that sells that router ? Might be cheaper on shipping costs.

EDIT: would this be a good one ?

Hi,

this should work fine.

i think power is enough and my router is similar to this (i cut the complete sideparts of my scratch build cabinet with it)
as i tell you need the insert which is right to the measures you need.
