Title: Washing parts in Dishwasher? Is this for real? Post by: bfrosty on February 19, 2015, 09:32:32 am Okay - I've seen people posting topics where they show photos of parts in the dishwasher being washed w/o soap.
Electronics, Boards, Lots of Monitor parts.... Is this for real? I mean...you would have to use an air compressor to get all the water out and let them dry for days before using them right? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks, MK Title: Re: Washing parts in Dishwasher? Is this for real? Post by: iankellogg on February 19, 2015, 10:18:14 am I do it all the time. Sockets can sometimes get filled with debris but its never been an issue for me, at worst replace the socket it was probably bad anyways.
Professional board manufactures will have dedicated water wash machines for circuit boards. Not all parts should be water washed (sockets, dip switches) but it hasn't been an issue for me. Of course let the water dry off completely. I usually wait 3 days (a life time) before powering on boards but I start working on them right away. I have noticed some things that can happen though. If your water is too hard you will get deposits all over the board that can leave a white mess. Other things that have happened is the silkscreen flaking. I think that could be from using too hot of water, as i didn't have this issue with my old dish washer. Title: Re: Washing parts in Dishwasher? Is this for real?
