Title: Cocktail Cooling fan speed help....
Post by: Oldschool on February 18, 2015, 10:13:22 am
So the fan in the bottom of my Ms. Pac man Cocktail had a wire broken off one of the lugs. I re-soldered it, and reflowed the solder to the other two lugs just because, and it runs, but it runs really slow. Slow meaning it's putting out air, but just barely. It spins freely, easily, and quietly so I'm assuming the bearings are good. I let it "cook" for a while (left the game on for about an hour) and when I looked inside it had completely stopped.

My question is....is my fan dead/dying, or is this some how thermostatically controlled where the speed is variable??

I believe it's a 120AC fan. That's what I gather because people are using 120AC fans as a replacements for it.

Might be worth it to just replace the fan, ac fans are really cheap.

Just unplug the fan.

Just unplug the fan.

It is for now, but I like to have everything working as it's designed, even if it's never going to be on long enough to build up that much heat. I picked up a new ball bearing fan on EBay for $12.
