Title: What are the minimum proficient scores on the all time classics? Post by: moogrum on February 05, 2015, 08:12:42 pm Just a thought I had while failing my way through some Burgertime and DK Jr. on my MAME. If I were to claim to be an ok player on the classic games, what kind of scores would I be looking for? John says 100,000 on Donkey Kong is a good score, but I think if you can crack 50,000 that's fine. Not great, but it means you can navigate a bunch of the levels. I can get 20,000 on Frogger and I feel like that's ok, but I don't really know!
So, what are some scoring milestones a player should be shooting for if you are a casual but frequent player? Title: Re: What are the minimum proficient scores on the all time classics? Post by: John's Arcade on February 06, 2015, 12:48:53 pm Off the top of my head....
One million - Robotron 60k - Pole Position 50k - DK JR 100k - DK 50k - Pac-Man 100k DK3 100k MARIO BROS Dunno... I'll think of more Title: Re: Post by: moogrum on February 06, 2015, 01:53:45 pm 60k for pole position? Isn't that almost the world record?

High 50s is good too I guess. But 60k is a benchmark that's not that hard to achieve with practice. My high is almost 64k which is much much harder to do. That'll take you to about phase 16, where the icicles first appear. Some people make it through the first one before losing all their lives but usually they die out on 16 or 17. 185k is a common plateau for this reason. Progressing from here takes real work for most people. |
