Title: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: bfrosty on January 21, 2015, 08:43:28 am Guys -
A guy is selling his Spyhunter, in decent shape for its age. Not working though. What's a decent price? Thanks, MK 8) Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: darkcat1 on January 22, 2015, 08:32:27 am not working $100-$150. Personally that's all I will pay for any broken game becase they can cost alot to fix
Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: John's Arcade on January 22, 2015, 11:40:47 am Those MCR games can be easy or hard to fix.
It could just be a power supply issue. Arcadeshop carries a modern replacement. It can cause hum in Spyhunter but sometimes it doesn't. Spy Hunter uprights can sell for $500+ in working condition. It's a cool game and cool cab. But, it's a beast. BIG GAME! Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: bfrosty on January 26, 2015, 11:28:38 am Thanks guys.
The seller sold it within minutes. Oh well, onto another hunt!! Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: bfrosty on January 26, 2015, 11:29:48 am What's the going price for a non-working tempest? I have one in my sights.
Also, would you guys kill me if I took a broken Mario Bros and turned it into a Fix it Felix Jr. Cab? :-\ Thanks, MK Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: iankellogg on January 26, 2015, 01:57:54 pm fix it felix is really lame. as far as non-working tempest.
CHEAP, needs to be REALLY CHEAP. the monitor is basically impossible to replace, somewhat difficult to work on. boardsets are expensive to replace. I believe the only guy that works on tempest charges $200 for a repair. All of the parts on tempest can be difficult to source. Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Ian, you're a negative Nancy. :) Non-working Tempest could be ANYTHING. #1 - Bad ARII power supply - easy to rebuild #2 - Bad frame transistors on the 6100 - not too difficult. #3 - Burnt up low voltage section on 6100 - LV2000 is common rebuild component #4 - Tempest PCBs are plentiful and not impossible to find. #5 - Bad edge connectors - not hard just time consuming. Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: iankellogg on January 26, 2015, 02:48:52 pm I agree with everyting up to the tempest pcb. I havent seen many working ones for sale recently, and prices have been a little silly of the few that I did see. Either way, tempest is common enough game that a non-working one should be very very cheap.
Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: bfrosty on January 27, 2015, 12:43:35 pm Hey guys, I got a deal on three machines last night.
Non-Working Tempest Marios Bros Wide Body The Last Dual???Capcom None are working 100%, but paid $550 and the guy delivered them to my house for free (35mile trip). I know...I overpaid, but Tempest is on my list and they are difficult to find around here (St. Louis) I moved them to "The Basement"....late last night...haven't had a chance to look into them. These 3 will be my major projects for the next month or so. Ugh, The guy had a Jurassic Park Pinball and it only had a bad launcher. He was letting it go for $1,200 <- I'm low on Arcade funds...had to pass. Thanks for your suggestions...I'm sure I'll need some help resurrecting these back to life. Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: iankellogg on January 27, 2015, 01:15:22 pm yeah not too bad. I probably would have gone for it at that price.
Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: bfrosty on January 27, 2015, 01:17:58 pm Is the "Wide Body" Mario Bros I bought rare? or just common like the other style?
Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: iankellogg on January 27, 2015, 01:24:03 pm more rare than the normal Nintendo cab. and its the right cab for mario bros, not a conversion.

Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: bfrosty on January 28, 2015, 01:24:12 pm Basement.....
The thought was, finish the basement, then get some arcades. Unfortunately, I found John's website a few months too soon. I decided to buy the arcade first (to see how many would fit)....then I will finish the basement. PS. any ideas for flooring? I was thinking carpet, but I know Arcades and working on them don't like static. Pss. That Hydro Thunder was a bitch to move at 350lbs. Also, the skeeballs were just klunky big and heavy. Those are never coming out of the basement. :D Thanks, ;D Sweet arcade! Basement? or garage!? Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: bfrosty on January 28, 2015, 01:37:29 pm Thanks John....I owe it all to you!!!! Damn you ;D
This hobby is a lot cheaper than restoring muscle cars though....my wife approves!!! ;D MK Nice!!! Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: offset on January 28, 2015, 09:07:35 pm mkalist, you must be from St Louis.
I was like the 11th person in line for that Tempest, lol. Congrats dude, nice start on an arcade Title: Re: Non-Working Spyhunter pricing? Post by: bfrosty on January 29, 2015, 11:57:44 am Thanks Offset!!!
I finally popped that Tempest cabinet open...not good. A board or two for the monitor is completely missing. I was going to replace the monitor anyway. Post pics of your arcade!!!! MK |
