Title: Molex Crimper?
Post by: OriginalTHK on August 14, 2014, 06:13:48 am
Question

In Johns videos he uses a molex crimper. What model is it and where can I find one at? I don't want to purchase the wrong one and I don't want to overpay either. I want to wire up a midway coin door but lack the tools to do so. I would also like information on the wire strippers he uses as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone

John uses a stolen ;) HTR 2445A which are good for .093 pins and I think .062 pins. The HTR 2445A has newer variants but I think the 2445A is the cheapest with a current price on ebay of between $40-80.

You can buy a similar one from amazon http://www.amazon.com/HT-225D-Cycle-Ratchet-Crimping-interchangeable/dp/B007JLN93S/ref=sr_1_6?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1408018510&sr=1-6&keywords=crimper

I believe that with this one.
Of course, I usually find it very difficult to do this.

I just went to a local electronic supply store (not Radio Shack I looked at the crimper they sell and it was junk) and bought the one that they carried. As long as it's not an el-cheap-o one they all pretty much work the same and as good.

So this would work?

Yes and being that that one has interchangeable dies you can just order new dies for other types of crimps too, instead of buying a whole new tool.
