Title: Midway Coin Door Restoration Help Post by: OriginalTHK on August 02, 2014, 01:41:17 am Ok, so I bought a original Midway Coin door and stripped it all down. I am in the process of repainting it and putting it back together.
This is what it looked like when I purchased it. (http://s16.postimg.org/d4duptlfp/image.jpg) It has that stupid hole in the middle top portion of the door. I am doing a pacman machine and it doesn't have that punch out circle in it. I am little frustrated with the thing. Do I attempt to put bondo in it and grind it down? Or just find a whole other door? I know in one of John's videos he took that JB weld stuff and tried to cover it up. If I cover it up I don't want it to show at all. So I have a couple options... 1. I just repaint the damn thing, sell it and find another door. 2. I live with it after repainting and have an eyesore. 3. I attempt to somehow fill in the hole and possibly make things worse for myself. Ideas? Advice? Thanks Title: Re: Midway Coin Door Restoration Help Post by: John's Arcade on August 02, 2014, 09:57:12 pm This forum IS active. No idea why no one has replied. :)
That style coin door had a button on it, right? Is that hole original? Factory? Just find another Pac-Man style coin door. They are common Title: Re: Midway Coin Door Restoration Help Post by: OriginalTHK on August 02, 2014, 10:16:15 pm Yes, stock from the factory. I didn't bother trying to fill it.
Title: Re: Midway Coin Door Restoration Help Post by: OriginalTHK on August 04, 2014, 04:15:16 am Apparently I found out this door should be grey. It was used on older Midway games such as Space Invaders & Galaxian. So, I guess I will have Midway Coin door for sale soon!

Some older Midway games had a button at that spot. I bet that coin door was used for both and they knocked that hole out if the game required a button. Space Invaders Door (http://s10.postimg.org/k3p0ccr15/SI_Coin_Door_Installed.jpg) From what I can gather some games did not have a "free play" option so they needed that hole for a credit button.
