Title: Sound Stopped on Wonder Boy Post by: orbit79 on May 28, 2014, 02:25:29 am Hi all,
Sadly, my Wonder Boy has decided that it no longer wants to play sound. 2 days ago it was fine, today - not sure much. I've tested in on a second cabinet, so I'm fairly confident that issue is with the board. I know there is a decent amount of information available for Wonder Boy repairs out there, but was hoping somebody with experience with the board (or similar Sega boards) could steer me in the direction of any likely causes, and easy things to check first up. Thanks, Rob In the interests of full disclosure, I'm posting this on Aussie Arcade as well. I hope this isn't in breach of any forum rules. Title: Re: Sound Stopped on Wonder Boy Post by: orbit79 on May 01, 2015, 09:11:06 am I finally revisited the Wonder Boy issue after being sidetracked by other projects. So, in the interests of documenting this for anyone else having similar issues in the future, I thought I'd post what the issue was.
Firstly, as suggested I checked what was going in and coming out of the amp, it tested fine. After very close inspection of the PCB I noticed some slight blackening one of the legs of the UL-N2003 at IC129. I replaced this and it worked perfectly. I'd be keen to hear how you go with your Wonder Boy, BloodyCactus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
