But earlier in my childhood NES and Seeeeeggggaaaaaaaa Title: Re: Consoles Post by: VertexGuy on May 04, 2014, 11:05:56 pm What consoles and games did you guys remember playing as a kid? A bmx bike , a skateboard, random chicks, football with my friends. Those were cool games. Title: Re: Consoles Post by: DaCord421 on May 05, 2014, 12:39:45 am Commodore VIC20
NES Genesis PS1 PS2 PSP PSVita The last 3 I still have. My NES is at my brother's. God knows how many times I beat Contra, The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2. Title: Re: Consoles Post by: knaagi on May 05, 2014, 09:47:36 am Magnavox Odyssey 2
Commodore 64 And yes, there was Skateboarding and BMX if the weather was too nice to stay inside. Title: Re: Consoles Post by: BloodyCactus on May 05, 2014, 10:07:00 am I owned a dreamcast for a week. that was my first 'console'
but as kids, my neighbor had an apple ii, I had a c64, one kid had a 2600. I never got consoles. I mean, games on my Amiga blew away any shit on a NES. Amiga 500 came out when NES came out in Australia (both iirc 1987?) The Amiga blew it away. Title: Re: Consoles Post by: knaagi on May 05, 2014, 02:06:00 pm oh yes i forgot, the Amiga 500 bridged the time between C64 and PC Gaming. It was awesome. It was my only 16bit experience back then.
Title: Re: Consoles Post by: lesoleil70 on May 05, 2014, 02:30:23 pm In order, it looks like a lot but this I'm approaching the big 4 0 here.
Atari 2600 Commodore 16 Dragon 32 MSX Spectrum 48+ Commodore 64 NES Sega Megadrive (Genesis) Snes AMIGA 500 Atari Jaguar N64 PSone PS2 Xbox Wii XBOX 360 PS3 PS4 Too many handhelds to mention. I'm skipping the XBOX one, 360 spent more time being repaired than being played. Kids want a Wii-U, I'm looking at deals. Spectrum 48/Commodore 64 for best childhood memories, game swaps, copies and fun. Title: Re: Consoles Post by: pimppride on May 11, 2014, 02:16:54 am I just picked up " MUNCHER " for my Bally Astrocade, an I am impressed on how close it is to an full arcade version when you look at what crap the 2600 version was for the times, plus its 4 player !

Title: Re: Consoles Post by: pimppride on May 11, 2014, 09:45:10 pm its my original since like 1980, the joysticks are a trip, trigger pistol grip with a 8 way stick & spinning / rotational potentiometer type control at the base
I'm looking to improve the RF out to a more modern AV mod... if anyone has seen anything / info on the web Title: Re: Consoles Post by: retrocreational on June 28, 2014, 01:32:47 pm I used to have a Pacman console. I loved that old boy but it broke down eventually. Luckily my parents kept it and I stumbled across it recently. Got it fixed up and looking good all thanks to a guy stationed in my town. I have to recommend him, he doesn't only refurbish but also sells a lot of what he fixes up. Here is a link to my main man Steve's site -- http://www.arcadespecialties.com/ Seriously cool dude, awesome to talk to about the old games.

I get a noisy video signal when I adapt it for AV. My best solution is to use an old TV that has the TV antenna screws with the original video adaptor the came with the Atari. If anyone has a solution to this I'm sure there are a bunch of people that would love to get in on it. Title: Re: Consoles Post by: lesoleil70 on June 30, 2014, 04:35:47 pm Simplest way to do this is to but a stand alone unit called a modulator (if you can find one that goes from RF to Scart, normally thay are the other way, but they do exist.
But if you have a VCR hanging about, use that. Tune in the 2600 to a channel on the VCR, then RGB or SCART back out to the TV. You can even record your gameplay to VHS and send into Twin Galaxies. ;) Title: Re: Consoles Post by: That Retro Guy on January 02, 2015, 06:22:02 pm I might be the oldest person on these Forums (almost 52), so when I was a kid (and money was pretty tight), we didn't even have an Atari 2600. We had the Sears Tele-Games that played Atari 2600 Cartridges.
Title: Re: Consoles Post by: arcadefan1985 on January 02, 2015, 06:46:52 pm I'm still a sucker for the 2600 stuff. I grab it up when there's a deal.

Title: Re: Consoles Post by: airsoftmodels on May 17, 2015, 05:07:37 pm I just got into the TurboGrafx 16. I remember seeing it at a friends house in the 90's, but didn't realize how cool it was back then. The shmups on the system such as Blazing Lazers and Super Star Soldier are fantastic. Also, I have been playing Cratermaze, trying to get a 1,000,000 point score.
On another note, has anyone had any experience with the Analogue CMVS? Its a really cool consolized MVS Neo Geo. |
